Still think low-fat dairy is best post bariatric surgery?

Fresh organic dairy products

Nope, says the three articles below.

If you stop and think about this, it makes common sense. Nature doesn’t make mistakes. When you remove the fat from dairy you’re left with all the lactose, which is sugar. You need the fat in dairy to slow down the absorption of the sugar so your body can burn it as energy. And not store the sugar as fat.
You’re also more likely to consume more dairy when you remove the fat because it’s lighter. So you consume even more lactose (sugar). Can you ever imagine drinking a pint glass of whole milk? Ick, me neither! But skim milk is so light I could do it, no problem.

“By eating the full-fat form of dairy products, you might actually eat fewer calories throughout the day than you would otherwise.

“That may be because fat is an incredibly satiating nutrient, filling you up, slowing down the release of sugars into your bloodstream and helping to prevent overeating”, explains Brian Quebbemann, a bariatric surgeon with the Chapman Medical Center in California and president of The N.E.W. Program. “By eating the full-fat form of dairy products, you might actually eat fewer calories throughout the day than you would otherwise,” he says.

Love that science is catching up with the hippie logic! ????
